AVALAKKI UPMA
Ingredients:
Avalakki 2 cups
chopped onions 2
Green chillies chopped 6 to7
Mustard seeds
Curry leaves
Cashew nuts
Salt
Chopped fresh coriander leaves
1/2 cup grated fresh coconut
Channa dal 3 tsp
Groundnut 2 tsp
Method:
Soak Avalakki in 1 cup of water for 20 mins with required quantity of salt and turmeric. Heat oil in a Kadai,add mustard seeds.when they start spluttering add curry leaves,Channa dal, cashew nuts, ground nut one by one with a gap of about 5 seconds. fry this for about 30 seconds. and add green chillies.
Fry green chillies till the raw smell is nill.Now add chopped onion and fry for 5 mins. The stove should be on a low heat. Add avalakki,coriander leaves,grated coconut. Mix throughly without making any lumps andwithout breaking avalakki. Serve hot garnished with coriander leaves and lemon.
